Worship Academy Korea [ 17 - 26 March 2003 ]

In March 2003, Steve & Vel visited Korea to teach on worship.

"We were invited by Kiho Lee and his church (Onnuri Church) leadership team to spend a week training the worship team which numbered about 400 people. Kiho's last two albums were produced by Steve. We were invited to speak at their Worship academy called WALTS. (Worship, Arts, Leadership, Training School). This is what we would call a thriving church filled with much vision. The church has over 25,000 members of which a large majority makes up the Youth church."

"Within half an hour of landing in Seoul, Korea, we were driven to our first 2 hour seminar with the music team and choir. About 150 people were in attendance. We ended the session with what could only be described as an awesome time of worship and intercession. Steve attempted to end the first half of the session, by teaching one of our songs, 'We lift our hands to worship You' and instead taking a 15 minute break, the presence God was so strong that we missed the break and worshipped for an hour an a half. We have never experienced the power of God and a hunger for His presence as we did that particular night in Korea."

"One thing we so admire about the Korean nation is that they truly are a praying nation. As worship and prayer are correlated, their worship is so passionate, unified and sincere. As usual, not only did we do much teaching, we were all taught so much by the Holy Spirit"

On the second day, 18th March, Steve & Vel held a five hour personal training session with one student per half hour. Vel, taught on vocals and Steve on keyboard skills.

The evening of the 19th, Steve & Velveta taught on worship to all the leadership team which comprises of Pastors, Intern Pastors and cell group leaders, about 400 in all. This also turned into a spontaneous time of awesome worship.

During the weekend, they led worship for the main church meetings. During one of the meetings, Steve encouraged the church to abandon their inhibition and give God 'a crazy praise.' At the end of the meeting during the meal, the Pastor shared that it was the first time they had 'danced so exuberantly'. The pastor also shared that it would have been the first time many in the church had ever danced in the midst of worship. Praise God!

We are planning to visit Korea again in January, 2005, this time with Graham Kendrick. Our very first trip to Korea was with Graham Kendrick. May God continue to bless the nation of Korea!

Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance.
