South Africa - Rhema - 2006

After six years, Steve & Velveta returned to South Africa to do some consultation work at the Rhema Ministries with the Worship team. This was a most outstanding trip as it was an opportunity for Steve & Vel to encourage, develop and train the singers and musicians.

The emphasis of the consultation was to look at the structure of the Worship team under the leadership of Rhema Music HOD, Janine Price.

Steve & Vel noted, ' ….it is a privilege to serve your local church in whatever capacity, be it a small fellowship of 20 people or the large size of church as Rhema Ministries (38,000 members).

Yohan Breda (Musical Director) & Steve spent a considerable amount of time together (as Vel and he also did with Janine) discussing the importance of having ideal, reachable and healthy plans towards the various projects as well as building accountability & trust between each worship team member.

Vel, Leticia, Yohan & SteveThe leadership team, Janine Price, Johan Breda and Ann Katrapanis showed the true South African hospitality as they took care of the Thompson's family. In Steve's own words, 'The journey that began six years ago, continues as we learn from our past, celebrate and thank God for the present relationship and then pray and plan with faith & hope towards the future.'

If not for the South African Nando's Chicken, Steve & Vel plan to revisit South Africa (Cape Town) in March to work with worship leaders and possibly, Johannesburg in July (Salvation Army Roots '07).

'It was exciting to continue sowing into lives that God has entrusted to us over the six years. Only what you do for Christ will last. Everything God has enabled us to sow into Rhema, we trust is of eternal value.' Says Velveta.
